Laying the groundwork for sustainable farm business

Come farm with us!

Farmer located in the Greenbrier Valley Region

The Sprouting Farms Appalachian Croft, Resource, and Training Center will offer area farmers access to shared resources, land, wholesale sales outlet, and regular workshops throughout the season.

Area farmers can use the Resource Sharing and Leasing programs. The Resource sharing program offers access to tools and implements Farms can access additional growing space or season extension growing plots through the Leasing program. Additionally, area farms can participate in wholesale markets through the GV A&D project being operated by project Partners Monroe Farm Market, Alderson Community Food Hub, and Greenbrier Valley Grown.

Area farmers are also invited to be involved and active at workshops and can take advantage of apprentice labor by agreeing to share your knowledge as a mentor for the apprenticeship program.

New and beginning farmer

The Sprouting Farms Appalachian Croft, Resource, and Training Center will offer new and beginning farmers a variety of resources and learning opportunities.  Click here to download new farmer brochure.

New and beginning farmers (farmers with experience ranging from 1-10 years) can apply to be part of the Apprenticeship or Incubator Programs. The Apprenticeship includes an 8 month farm business course, .25 acres to grow on for the season, a 20 hour/wk paid apprenticeship, and mentor support as you develop your business plan. Incubator Program includes provides continued mentorship and support as you launch your farm business on 1-2 acres on the Sprouting Farms site where you will have access to all the farm resources, tools, and bulk supplies.
